Aaron Atkins Dies in ATV vs. Train Crash in Plymouth, Illinois

On Monday, May 26, 2025, at approximately 6:20 p.m., the Hancock County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a train near Plymouth, Illinois. Upon arrival, authorities determined that Aaron R. Atkins, a 41-year-old resident of Plymouth, had attempted to traverse railroad tracks on an ATV, which subsequently became immobilized. While attempting to dislodge the vehicle, Atkins and his dog were struck by a northbound Amtrak train, resulting in their immediate deaths.
