AnnMarie Macias-Lauritzen Killed in Hawthorn Woods Head-On Crash

On August 9, 2025, at approximately 4:37 p.m., a fatal head-on collision occurred near Fairfield Road and Holmes Avenue in Hawthorn Woods, Lake County, Illinois. AnnMarie Macias-Lauritzen, a 28-year-old resident of Round Lake Beach, was a passenger in a northbound Honda Accord when it was struck by a southbound Honda CR-V, driven by a 36-year-old man, which crossed the double yellow line. Macias-Lauritzen was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) and Hawthorn Woods police are investigating, with toxicology results pending to determine if drugs or alcohol were factors.
