Burton Swenson Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 34 in Tansem Township, MN
On the morning of August 26, 2025, a fatal collision occurred on Highway 34 in Tansem Township, Clay County, Minnesota. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2007 Dodge Caliber driven by 89-year-old Burton John Swenson of Barnesville collided with a westbound 2018 Subaru Outback near milepost 6 at approximately 8:25 a.m.
Swenson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 64-year-old female driver of the Subaru, a resident of Hawley, was transported to Sanford Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by authorities.
