Carissa Pate Injured in Centralia Two-Vehicle Crash

On August 13, 2025, at approximately 5:15 p.m., a two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Broadway and Locust in Centralia, Illinois. Carissa Pate, a 47-year-old resident of Centralia, was driving a westbound car on Locust Street when it was struck by a pickup truck driven by Ruth Sutherland, 83, of Iuka, who ran a stop light while traveling westbound on Broadway. Pate sustained injuries and was transported by private vehicle to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for treatment.Sutherland was issued citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating a vehicle without insurance.
