Deputy Keifer Smith Involved in Accident While Responding to Emergency in Klickitat County
On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at approximately 9:40 a.m., Klickitat County Sheriff’s Deputy Keifer Smith was involved in a vehicle collision while responding to an emergency call concerning a missing child. The incident occurred on Highway 14, west of Murdock, Washington, as Deputy Smith operated his vehicle with lights and siren activated. The collision involved two vehicles, and the Washington State Patrol (WSP) is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
No life-threatening injuries were reported in the incident, though one individual was transported to Skyline Health for evaluation. The missing child was located and confirmed to be safe. Additional information will be released following the completion of the WSP investigation.
