Tragic Pedestrian Accident Claims Life of Adrian Johnico in LeFlore County

On May 21, 2025, a tragic pedestrian accident occurred in LeFlore County, Oklahoma, resulting in the death of Adrian Johnico, 49. The incident took place at approximately 9:52 p.m. on US-271 and 440th Avenue, south of Talihina. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Johnico was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Vearle Maple, 76, who sustained minor injuries and was treated at Choctaw Nation Healthcare. An unoccupied 2015 GMC Sierra was also involved in the incident. Johnico was transported to Choctaw Nation Healthcare, where he was pronounced deceased at 1:55 p.m.
