Deputy Mike Allred Injured in Tremonton, Utah Shooting on August 18, 2025

On August 18, 2025, Deputy Mike Allred of the Box Elder County Sheriff's Office sustained injuries during a violent incident at a residence in Tremonton, Utah. The event unfolded when officers responded to a domestic violence call, which escalated into a fatal confrontation. Two police officers, Eric Estrada and Sgt. Lee Sorensen, were shot and killed. Deputy Allred, along with his K-9 partner Azula, arrived as backup and was also struck by gunfire. Both he and the K-9 sustained injuries and are currently recovering.

The suspect, 32-year-old Ryan Michael Bate, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with two counts of capital murder and multiple other felonies, including attempted aggravated murder and possession of explosives. Prosecutors have announced their intent to pursue the death penalty.
