Edgar Belland and Karen Kauppi Involved in Multi-Vehicle Accident in Wright County
On May 16, 2025, at approximately 1:08 PM, a multi-vehicle collision occurred on westbound Highway 55 at County Road 35 in Buffalo, Wright County, Minnesota. The incident involved four vehicles and transpired under wet road conditions, as reported by the Minnesota State Patrol. A 2019 Ram 1500, operated by 60-year-old Edgar Joseph Belland of Wayzata, was stationary at a red light when it was rear-ended by a 2005 Ford Explorer driven by 60-year-old Thomas Grant Ponsford of Annandale. This impact propelled the Ram into a 2015 Chevrolet Express Van, which subsequently collided with a 2012 Honda CR-V, both also traveling westbound.
The accident resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to three individuals. Edgar Belland and his passenger, 87-year-old Karen Louise Kauppi of Buffalo, were transported to Buffalo Hospital for treatment, as was Thomas Ponsford. The drivers of the Chevrolet Express Van and Honda CR-V, 52-year-old Jason Norman Nelson of Cokato and 33-year-old Erik Edmund Haines of Maple Grove, respectively, escaped injury.
