Elizabeth Elsasser and Jason Kopitas Involved in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Rural Dixon
On Sunday, May 4, 2025, at approximately 7:06 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a multiple vehicle crash on Rt. 2 and Plock Rd. in rural Dixon, Illinois. A white 2013 GMC Acadia, driven by Sandra L. Seeley, 52, of Dixon, was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when it struck a white 2014 Ford Fusion driven by Elizabeth L. Elsasser, 18, of Mount Morris, who was also traveling eastbound. The impact caused Seeley’s vehicle to cross the median into westbound traffic, where it collided with a black 2012 Dodge Charger driven by Jason K. Kopitas, 37, of Ashton.
All three drivers were evaluated by medical personnel at the scene. Elsasser was transported to OSF Saint Katherine Hospital for minor injuries. Seeley was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper traffic lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Illinois State Police, Dixon Rural Fire Department, and Advance EMS Ambulance Services.
