Fatal Crash in Montgomery Claims Life of Jason Messick

On April 30, 2025, a tragic accident occurred in Montgomery, Illinois, resulting in the death of Jason Messick from Oswego. The incident took place at approximately 5:15 p.m. at the intersection of Route 31 and Caterpillar Drive. According to the Montgomery Police Department, Messick was driving a black Nissan sedan southbound on Route 31 when a semi-truck, traveling northbound, attempted to make a left turn onto Caterpillar Drive. Despite the truck driver's efforts to avoid the collision, the sedan struck the truck and became pinned underneath it. Emergency responders, including the Oswego Fire Department, were dispatched to the scene, but Messick was pronounced dead at the location.

The area was closed for several hours as the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team (KCART) and Illinois State Police conducted a thorough investigation.
