Jacob Riggle Charged in Fatal Motorcycle Crash

On May 26, 2025, Jacob Jerome Riggle, a 26-year-old resident of Waubun, Minnesota, was involved in a motorcycle crash that resulted in the death of his passenger, Asia Monique Bevins, aged 24, from Ogema, Minnesota. The incident took place approximately 18 miles east of Detroit Lakes in Becker County, leading to Riggle being charged with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide in Becker County District Court. Authorities determined that Riggle was intoxicated during the crash, with a preliminary breath test indicating a blood alcohol content of 0.138%, exceeding Minnesota’s legal limit. Riggle’s prior legal record includes a conviction for drunken driving and possession of an open alcohol container in a vehicle, alongside pending charges for drug possession and an additional drunken-driving offense.

Asia Monique Bevins was hospitalized following the crash and succumbed to head injuries on June 13, 2025. According to her obituary, Bevins had earned an Associate of Arts Degree from White Earth Tribal and Community College in 2023 and was pursuing further studies at Bemidji State University, aiming to become an Ojibwe language teacher. She was noted for her commitment to her Native heritage and language education. Riggle is currently detained with bail set at $100,000, awaiting a court appearance scheduled for July 14, 2025.
