Jessica Delgado Injured in Single-Vehicle Accident in Chippewa County

On July 21, 2025, at approximately 2:53 p.m., a single-vehicle accident occurred on Highway 40 at 80th Ave NW in Big Bend Township, Chippewa County, Minnesota. The vehicle, a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was driven by Jose Angel Ciru, a 27-year-old resident of Montevideo, Minnesota. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the Jeep was traveling eastbound when it crossed over the westbound lanes, struck a drainage ditch embankment, and rolled onto its roof, coming to rest facing south. The road conditions were dry at the time of the incident.Jessica Delgado, a 20-year-old female passenger from Montevideo, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Montevideo Hospital for treatment. The driver, Jose Angel Ciru, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, while a juvenile female passenger also sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Children's Hospital Minneapolis.
