Joshua Gillispie and Lydia Bartholomew Involved in Multi-Car Accident on Highway 20 in Washington
On April 4, 2025, a severe multi-vehicle collision took place on Highway 20 near Arnold Road in Washington, involving four cars and resulting in injuries to multiple drivers. The Washington State Patrol reports that the accident began when Marc A. Rogers, a 43-year-old from Oak Harbor, driving a 2009 Chrysler Town & Country minivan southbound, veered across the centerline and collided with a northbound 2016 Honda CR-V operated by 66-year-old Margaret Riccio of Wakefield, Rhode Island. The minivan then proceeded south in the northbound lane, striking a 2024 Mercedes Sprinter van driven by 43-year-old Joshua Gillispie of Lacey, Washington, head-on. Subsequently, a northbound Kia Sorento, driven by 66-year-old Lydia Bartholomew of Coupeville, impacted Gillispie’s van, exacerbating the incident.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene at 10:24 a.m., where all drivers were confirmed to have been wearing seatbelts. Rogers sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was listed in satisfactory condition as of Monday afternoon. Joshua Gillispie was transported to WhidbeyHealth Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, while Lydia Bartholomew received on-site medical evaluation by paramedics. Margaret Riccio emerged from the crash uninjured. The Washington State Patrol determined the cause of the accident to be “failure to maintain lane” and noted that drugs and alcohol were not contributing factors. The highway was closed temporarily by the state Department of Transportation to facilitate emergency response and investigation efforts.
