Kevin and Mary Swenson Injured in Mille Lacs County Car Accident
On July 25, 2025, at 12:21 PM, a collision occurred on Highway 27 near Milepost 171 in Kathio Township, Mille Lacs County, Minnesota. A 2019 Chevy Traverse, driven by Gao Nou Vang, 35, of Saint Paul, Minnesota, was attempting to make a left turn into a driveway when it collided with an eastbound 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep was operated by Kevin Mark Swenson, 67, of Miltona, Minnesota, with Mary Therese Swenson, 67, also of Miltona, as a passenger. The accident took place under dry road conditions, and both vehicles' airbags deployed upon impact.Kevin Swenson sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia for treatment. Mary Swenson also suffered non-life-threatening injuries but did not require medical transport. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, and alcohol was not involved. The driver and passenger of the Chevy Traverse, Gao Nou Vang and Lue Yang, 40, of Saint Paul, were uninjured. The incident is under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol, with assistance from the Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office, Mille Lacs Health System Ambulance, and Onamia Fire Department.
