Landon Hughes Dies in Fatal Car Crash on I-44 Near Miami, Oklahoma

On June 5, 2025, a fatal single-vehicle crash occurred on I-44 near Miami, Oklahoma, resulting in the death of Landon Hughes, 19, from Macomb, Oklahoma. The incident took place on the Will Rogers Turnpike at mile marker 317 eastbound, approximately 3 miles northeast of Miami, just before 3:15 p.m. The vehicle, a 2019 Chevy Cruz, was driven by Cindy Diliberto, 37, of Belleville, Illinois. Diliberto and a 16-year-old female passenger, also from Belleville, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Hughes, a second passenger, suffered critical injuries and was transported to Mercy Joplin, where he was pronounced deceased.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported that the weather conditions were clear and dry at the time of the crash but disclosed few additional details regarding the cause or circumstances.
