Larry C. Smith Injured in Fatal Accident on Interstate 49

On June 5, 2025, at approximately 2:15 a.m., a fatal traffic accident occurred on Interstate 49 Southbound at the 99-mile marker in Gravette, Benton County, Arkansas. A 2018 Toyota, driven by Dona L. Smith, 77, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was traveling southbound when it collided with a horse standing in the far right lane. Following the collision with the animal, the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a sign.

The driver, Dona L. Smith, was pronounced deceased at the scene, and her body was transported to the Benton County Morgue. The passenger, Larry C. Smith, 78, also of Fayetteville, Arkansas, sustained injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital NWA for medical treatment.
