Martin Perez and Analilia Perez-Medina Injured in Douglas County Accident

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, at approximately 2:45 p.m., a two-vehicle accident occurred on U.S. Highway 97, approximately 10 miles north of Orondo in Douglas County, Washington. The collision involved an SUV driven by 75-year-old Lief H. Carlsen of Chelan and a sedan driven by 53-year-old Martin P. Perez of Brewster. According to the Washington State Patrol, Carlsen attempted to turn from the highway and failed to yield, leading to a collision with the oncoming sedan operated by Perez.

The accident resulted in injuries to Perez and his three passengers: 51-year-old Analilia Perez-Medina, an 11-year-old boy, and a six-year-old girl. Perez and the boy were transported to Lake Chelan Hospital for treatment, while Perez-Medina and the girl were taken to Confluence Health Hospital in Wenatchee. Subsequently, Perez-Medina was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for further medical care. Carlsen, the driver of the SUV, was uninjured and determined to be at fault for failing to yield. The Washington State Patrol confirmed that impairment was not a contributing factor in the crash, which disrupted traffic on the highway for approximately one hour.
