Pedestrian Curt Slough Struck by Vehicle in Park Rapids
On May 31, 2025, at approximately 10:15 a.m., a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of 1st Street East and Central Avenue in Park Rapids, Minnesota. The pedestrian, identified as Curt Slough, 72, of Park Rapids, was crossing State Highway 34 within a marked crosswalk when the incident occurred. According to the Park Rapids Police Department incident report, Slough had activated the walk signal and was legally crossing when a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Samuel Green, 38, of Grand Rapids, turned left onto the highway and collided with him. Slough sustained injuries, including abrasions to his forehead and knees, and was transported by North Memorial Ambulance to the municipal airport, from where he was airlifted to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo for suspected serious injuries.
The incident report states that Green stopped at the intersection before making the left turn but failed to yield the right-of-way to Slough, striking him in the crosswalk. Green reported to officers that he did not see Slough until the moment of impact. The report indicates no involvement of drugs or alcohol, and Slough was found to have taken no improper actions.
