Skylar Redden Killed, Michael Redden Injured in Floyd County Crash

On February 20, 2025, a tragic accident occurred on Ga. 53 near Dempsey Road in Floyd County, Georgia, resulting in the death of Skylar Cole Redden, 31, of Shannon. According to Floyd County Police Department reports, Skylar Redden was attempting to refuel his delivery truck, which had run out of gas, with the assistance of Michael Steven Redden, 43, when both were struck by a 2014 Honda Accord driven by Joshua Cleveland Harker, 36. Skylar Redden sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Michael Redden suffered minor injuries in the incident. Harker has been charged with felony vehicular homicide, serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving, and distracted driving under Georgia’s hands-free law. The southbound lane of Ga. 53 was closed for over an hour as authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
