Steve and Nikki Linders Involved in Serious Moped Crash in Twin Cities

On the evening of Saturday, May 17, 2025, Steve Linders, the public information officer for the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office and a former spokesperson for the St. Paul Police Department, was critically injured in a moped crash in the Twin Cities area. Linders, a familiar figure among local media, was riding with his wife, Nikki Linders, around 6 p.m. when a driver abruptly pulled out in front of them, leaving no opportunity to avoid the collision. Steve sustained severe injuries, including a skull fracture, brain swelling, bleeding, and a fractured hip, and is currently in the ICU at Hennepin County Medical Center on a ventilator. Nikki, while shaken and sore, escaped serious injury and is reported to be stable following a medical evaluation.

The incident has prompted an outpouring of support for the Linders family, with a GoFundMe campaign launched by Steve’s daughter-in-law, Erin Linders, to assist with household expenses and anticipated medical costs. The fundraiser, which has already raised over $10,000, describes Steve as a devoted husband, father, and community servant who faces a long and uncertain recovery. Erin noted that Steve’s love for his family, including his three young grandchildren, drives the family’s hope for his full healing.
