Timothy Sellers Dies Following Incident in LaSalle County Jail, Illinois on August 12, 2025
On August 12, 2025, 29-year-old Timothy Sellers of Streator, Illinois, died after being found unresponsive in his cell at the LaSalle County Jail in Ottawa. The incident occurred during a routine check conducted by sheriff’s deputies. According to the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, Sellers exhibited injuries consistent with self-asphyxiation. Jail staff initiated first aid, and Sellers was subsequently airlifted to a nearby hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries.
The Illinois State Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Court records indicate that Sellers had been charged with arson in June 2025.
