Tragic Accident Claims Life of 6-Year-Old Noah Edwards in Decatur

On April 10, 2025, at approximately 7:21 a.m., a 6-year-old boy named Noah Edwards was struck by a car while crossing Oakland Avenue in Decatur, Illinois. He was on his way to his bus stop for school and was wearing a dinosaur backpack and light-up sneakers. The driver of the car was a 41-year-old woman, and the police reported that there was no school bus present at the time of the incident.

Noah was taken to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. His mother, Rekyia Smith, expressed her grief and disbelief, stating that she thought he would wake up and be okay. She described Noah as a fun, helpful, and sweet child who loved to draw and play video games.
