Tragic Accident Claims Life of Tulsa First-Grader Ty'Shaun Gee
On April 16, 2025, the Tulsa, Oklahoma, community suffered a devastating loss when 7-year-old Ty'Shaun Gee, a first-grader at MacArthur Elementary School, was fatally struck by a vehicle. The incident occurred just after 5 p.m. near 21st and Memorial as Ty'Shaun and his siblings were crossing the street outside of a crosswalk while walking home from school. Although several drivers had stopped to allow the children to pass, one driver attempted to maneuver around the stopped traffic, tragically colliding with Ty'Shaun. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he did not survive his injuries. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with Tulsa authorities as the investigation continues.
Ty'Shaun was a beloved child, remembered by his family and community for his joyful spirit and affectionate nature. His mother, Takeyha Gee, described him as a loving boy who gave over 20 hugs a day, while his aunt, Mekah Solomon, recalled his sweet demeanor and ever-present smile. The loss has reverberated beyond his heartbroken parents, four siblings, and grandparents, touching a tight-knit community that cherished him. MacArthur Elementary’s principal issued a letter expressing sympathy and offering support to students and families, while family friend Tiffany Taylor spoke of the profound sorrow felt by those who knew Ty'Shaun through his playful interactions with other children. In this time of grief, the Tulsa community has united to honor his memory and support his loved ones.
