Tragic Accident on I-240: Pedestrian Julissa Duncan Fatally Struck

A devastating accident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday morning on eastbound I-240 at Western Avenue, claiming the life of a young pedestrian. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that at approximately 4:42 a.m. on May 17, 2025, a 2021 Dodge RAM 2500, driven by 22-year-old Derek Brown, was traveling in the center lane when it collided with 22-year-old Julissa Duncan, who was standing in the same lane. Despite the swift response of emergency services, Duncan was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving the community in mourning over this tragic loss.

The driver, Derek Brown, and his passenger, 22-year-old Jacob Meadow, emerged from the incident unharmed. Authorities have noted that Brown’s condition appeared normal at the time of the accident, though details regarding Duncan’s condition prior to the collision remain unclear. The eastbound lanes of I-240 were closed at 5 a.m. to allow for a thorough investigation and were reopened by 6:23 a.m.
