Tragic T-Bone Crash in Joliet Claims Life of Susan Wallace
On April 10, 2025, a devastating T-bone crash at the intersection of Essington Road and Caton Farm Road in Joliet, Illinois, resulted in the death of 77-year-old Susan Wallace. Wallace was a passenger in a Buick Enclave driven by a 71-year-old Joliet man, which was struck on the passenger side by a southbound Ford F-150 operated by a 19-year-old from Crest Hill. According to Joliet Police Department spokesman Dwayne English, the collision occurred at 7:44 a.m. as the Buick attempted a left turn onto westbound Caton Farm Road. Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were transported to St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department, but Wallace tragically succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
The Will County Coroner has officially identified the victim as Susan Wallace of Joliet, and the crash remains under investigation by the Joliet Police Department Traffic Unit. Authorities have noted that the traffic light was green for both northbound and southbound lanes of Essington Road at the time of the incident, prompting a temporary closure of the roadway for scene reconstruction.
