Head-On Collision on I-985 Leaves Greta Davidson Clay Seriously Injured in Hall County

On March 3, 2025, a devastating head-on collision disrupted traffic and lives along Interstate 985 near Exit 20 in Hall County, Georgia. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the incident occurred when 35-year-old Robert Jordan Breda of Jefferson, driving a Ram pickup truck, lost control in the northbound lanes, veered into the grass median, and struck the cable barrier. The truck then crossed into the southbound lanes, where it collided with a Jeep Cherokee driven by 58-year-old Greta Davidson Clay of Gainesville. Both vehicles overturned, amplifying the severity of the crash. Emergency responders, including Hall County Police and Fire Rescue, quickly arrived at the scene, where Clay was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with serious injuries. Breda, suspected of driving under the influence, was arrested and charged with DUI, serious injury by vehicle, and failure to maintain lane.

The collision, reported just before 8:30 a.m., caused significant traffic delays, with commuters facing over 30 minutes of congestion across a four-mile stretch of I-985. Initially, authorities noted the involvement of three vehicles, but updates confirmed it as a head-on incident between Clay and Breda’s vehicles. This tragic event underscores the dangers of impaired driving and its profound impact on the community. The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate, as Hall County residents await further updates on Clay’s recovery and the legal proceedings against Breda.
