Raphael Woolfork Dies After Dog Attack in Oglethorpe, Georgia — December 6, 2025 Incident on Chatham Street Under Investigation

A fatal incident involving multiple dogs is under investigation in Oglethorpe, Georgia, following the death of 41-year-old Raphael Woolfork on December 6, 2025. Authorities reported that Woolfork suffered several dog bites during an encounter on Chatham Street in the City of Oglethorpe. Local law enforcement began investigating after receiving notice that a possible dog-bite victim was being transported for medical care.

According to officials, Woolfork was reportedly attacked by three pit bull dogs while walking in the area. A nearby resident assisted him and transported him to a location where emergency medical personnel could reach him. During treatment, Woolfork appeared to go into cardiac arrest before being transported to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, where he later died. The Macon County Coroner stated that the official cause of death has not yet been determined. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is expected to conduct an autopsy to establish whether Woolfork’s death resulted directly from the dog bites or from a separate medical condition. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the encounter.
