Amanda Simpson Injured in Walnut Hill-Airport Road Crash, Centralia, Illinois on November 7, 2025
On November 7, 2025, Amanda Simpson, a 43-year-old resident of Dix-Irvington Road, was involved in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Walnut Hill Road and Airport Road, southeast of Centralia, Illinois. Preliminary reports from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department indicate that a northbound van driven by 78-year-old Harold Skambraks of Centralia pulled from a stop sign and struck Simpson’s westbound SUV. The impact caused substantial vehicle damage, requiring Skambraks to be extricated from his van by the Centralia Fire Protection District.
Both drivers sustained injuries and were transported by ambulance to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment. An Air Evac helicopter had initially been dispatched but was subsequently cancelled. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash, which occurred shortly before 5:00 p.m., noting that roadway conditions and driver actions remain under review.
