Atlanta Officer Malik Safi Injured in Patrol Car Crash on October 21, 2025, Condition Improving

On the night of October 21, 2025, Officer Malik Safi of the Atlanta Police Department was critically injured in a vehicular accident while responding to an emergency call with sirens and lights activated. Safi, assigned to the Zone 1 Field Operations Division since his swearing-in in December 2024, lost control of his patrol vehicle on James P. Brawley Drive NW, colliding with a residential structure. The impact resulted in a house fire, which was promptly extinguished by local firefighters. A resident inside the home was unharmed, and witnesses assisted Safi in extricating him from his vehicle.

Officer Safi was transported to the hospital in critical condition and has since been removed from a ventilator, with authorities reporting gradual improvement.
