Barkat Ismail Identified as Victim in Fatal Plano, Texas Pedestrian Crash – October 1, 2025

PLANO, Texas — On the morning of October 1, 2025, a fatal pedestrian collision occurred at the intersection of Parkwood Drive and Legacy Drive in Plano. Authorities identified the deceased as 75-year-old Barkat Ali Ismail, a local resident who was taking his routine morning walk following prayers. According to Plano Police, two SUVs collided in the intersection at approximately 8 a.m., causing one vehicle to overturn and strike two pedestrians on the sidewalk.

Ismail was transported to a nearby hospital by Plano Fire-Rescue, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The second pedestrian sustained non-life-threatening wounds. Neither driver involved in the crash was injured. Officials have not indicated whether charges will be filed, and the incident remains under active investigation. Family members reported that Ismail, recently retired, had moved to the area with his wife and was the father of adult children.
