Amanda Wilson Injured in Fatal Coles County, Illinois Crash on October 1, 2025

Amanda Wilson, 37, of Mattoon, Illinois, sustained injuries in a fatal collision that occurred on October 1, 2025, at the intersection of County Road 1200 North and County Road 300 East in rural Coles County. According to the Coles County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred when a southbound Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by 35-year-old Corey Mitchell, was struck on the driver’s side by an International semi-truck operated by Michael Emmerich, 59, of Gays, Illinois.

Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene. Amanda Wilson and a 5-year-old child, both passengers in the Tahoe, were transported to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana for treatment. The truck driver, Emmerich, was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash. The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the Illinois State Police.
