Derek William Frykman Injured in Industrial Township, Minnesota Rear-End Collision on January 30, 2026 Along Highway 33

On January 30, 2026, at approximately 10:15 a.m., a two-vehicle crash occurred on northbound Highway 33 at Industrial Road in Industrial Township, St. Louis County, Minnesota. Authorities reported that a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling in the left lane struck the rear of a 2014 Ford Edge. Road conditions at the time were dry.

Derek William Frykman, 39, of Cloquet, was a passenger in the Ford Edge. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s–Essentia in Duluth for treatment. The driver of the Ford Edge suffered life-threatening injuries, and another passenger died as a result of the collision. The driver of the Jeep was not injured.
