Donald Baily Killed in DUI Pedestrian Crash on Highway 2 in Airway Heights, Washington on January 7, 2026

Donald Baily was killed early Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 2 in Airway Heights, Washington. The fatal incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. near South Centre Place as Baily was walking along the shoulder of the roadway. According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, an eastbound vehicle driven by a 22-year-old man left the travel lane and struck the pedestrian under circumstances that authorities later linked to suspected impairment.

Investigators reported that the driver stopped briefly after the collision, believing he may have struck an object or animal, before driving to a nearby parking lot and contacting law enforcement. A subsequent evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert led to charges of vehicular homicide. Donald Baily was pronounced dead as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to examine contributing factors surrounding the collision.
