Elvis Escobar Killed in Head-On Collision in Magnolia Township, Illinois

Elvis Escobar, 42, of Romeoville, Illinois, was pronounced dead at the scene of a head-on collision that occurred on the afternoon of August 18, 2025, in Magnolia Township, Putnam County. According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place at approximately 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Illinois Route 18 and County Highway 1150 East.

Escobar was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Anthony A. Herrera, 27, of Cresthill, which was traveling eastbound when it attempted to pass multiple vehicles and collided with a westbound car driven by Mary T. Fitzmaurice, 67, of Downers Grove. Both Herrera and Fitzmaurice were airlifted to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, while another passenger, Rivera Vasquez, 38, was transported to a hospital in Streator.
