Mary Fitzmaurice Injured in Head-On Collision in Magnolia Township, Illinois

On August 18, 2025, 67-year-old Mary Fitzmaurice of Downers Grove, Illinois, sustained injuries in a head-on vehicle collision on Illinois Route 18 in Magnolia Township, Putnam County. According to authorities, the crash occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. near County Highway 1150 East when an eastbound vehicle, operated by a 27-year-old man from Cresthill, attempted to pass several vehicles and struck Fitzmaurice’s westbound car.

Fitzmaurice was transported by helicopter to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria for treatment of unspecified injuries. The incident remains under investigation by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
