Ephrata Man Injured in Soap Lake Collision: Danny Rhoads Involved in SR-28/SR-17 Crash on September 30, 2025

On the afternoon of September 30, 2025, a two-vehicle collision occurred in Grant County, Washington, resulting in injuries to one individual. The incident took place at approximately 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 28 and State Route 17, just south of Soap Lake.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash involved an SUV driven by 43-year-old Danny D. Rhoads of Ephrata and a motorhome operated by 71-year-old Cody T. Johnson of Soap Lake. The investigation indicates Johnson failed to stop at a posted sign while turning onto SR-28, causing Rhoads’ vehicle to strike the motorhome. Rhoads sustained injuries and was transported to Kadlec Medical Center in the Tri-Cities. Johnson and a 17-year-old male passenger in the SUV were uninjured. The collision disrupted traffic in the area for several hours, and authorities have not yet determined whether impairment was a contributing factor.
