Fatal Highway 412 Collision Claims Lives of Sherry Felty, Duane Smith Jr., and Christine Sta Ana in Greene County, Arkansas on October 17, 2025
Arkansas State Police have identified three victims killed in a multi-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 412 in Greene County on October 17, 2025. According to the preliminary crash report, 52-year-old Sherry Felty of Paragould and 40-year-old Duane Smith Jr. and 31-year-old Christine Sta Ana, both of Jonesboro, died when a westbound 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by 49-year-old Bruce Owens, crossed into opposing traffic while attempting to pass a Freightliner. As Owens reentered the eastbound lanes, his vehicle collided head-on with the 2020 Jeep Renegade driven by Smith. Debris from the impact was subsequently struck by the Freightliner.
Felty, a passenger in Owens’ vehicle, and both Smith and Sta Ana, occupants of the second vehicle, were pronounced dead at the scene. Owens and a minor passenger traveling in Smith’s vehicle sustained injuries of undisclosed severity. The incident remains under review as investigators assess roadway conditions, vehicle movements, and contributing factors.
