Gordon Barner Injured in Fatal Highway 270 West Crash in Magnet Cove, Arkansas on January 8, 2026

Gordon Barner, 46, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, was injured Thursday afternoon in a fatal two-vehicle collision on Highway 270 West in Magnet Cove, located in Hot Spring County. The crash occurred at approximately 3:26 p.m. when a westbound 2010 Cadillac crossed the center line and struck an eastbound 2025 Buick, according to information released by state authorities. The Buick subsequently left the roadway and overturned amid wet road conditions.

Barner was riding as a passenger in the Cadillac at the time of the collision and sustained injuries requiring medical attention. He was transported to a local hospital along with other injured occupants from both vehicles. The driver of the Buick, 43-year-old Jeri Winiecki of Hot Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene. Arkansas State Police continue to investigate the incident as officials review the sequence of events leading to the center-line crossover.
