Sonya Brown Injured in Fatal Highway 270 West Collision in Magnet Cove, Arkansas on January 8, 2026

Sonya Brown, 47, of Carthage, Arkansas, was injured Thursday afternoon in a fatal two-vehicle collision on Highway 270 West in Magnet Cove, located in Hot Spring County. The crash occurred at approximately 3:26 p.m. when a westbound 2010 Cadillac crossed the center line and struck an eastbound 2025 Buick, according to state authorities. Following the impact, the Buick left the roadway and overturned under wet road conditions.

Brown was traveling as a passenger in the Cadillac and was among several occupants injured in the collision. Emergency responders transported the injured to area medical facilities for treatment. The driver of the Buick, 43-year-old Jeri Winiecki of Hot Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene. Arkansas State Police have confirmed that the incident remains under investigation as officials review the circumstances that led to the center-line crossover.
