Hector Maldonado Identified in Fatal Cranberry Bog Machinery Incident in Bourne, Massachusetts – November 24, 2025

Authorities in Bourne, Massachusetts, have identified Hector Maldonado, 71, as the worker who died following a heavy machinery incident at a local cranberry bog. The incident occurred while Maldonado was performing routine operations involving a bog sander, a piece of equipment used to distribute sand across the bog surface. During the process, the machinery reportedly tipped and rolled, trapping him beneath it.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the industrial agricultural site after coworkers attempted to free Maldonado using a front-end loader. Despite these efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials indicated that the incident took place in an outdoor work environment primarily dedicated to cranberry cultivation. The circumstances surrounding the equipment failure remain under review, and the incident has drawn attention to safety risks associated with long-term agricultural machinery operations.
