Ivan Garcia Killed in Chelan, Washington Workplace Accident on January 28, 2026 After 23-Foot Fall from Utility Pole

On January 28, 2026, Ivan Garcia, 24, of Yakima, was fatally injured while working on South Lakeshore Drive approximately five miles north of Chelan in Chelan County, Washington. According to Chelan County Coroner Earl Crowe, Garcia was positioned at the top of an electrical pole at approximately 11 a.m. when the pole snapped. He fell an estimated 23 feet to the ground.

Garcia was transported to Lake Chelan Health, where he was pronounced dead. He had been working as a contractor on a project for Chelan County Public Utility District at the time of the incident. The utility district confirmed the fatality and stated that the matter remains under investigation in coordination with local and state authorities.
