Mark A. Susemiehl and David L. Susemiehl Injured in Stevens County, Washington Crash on January 28, 2026 Along U.S. Highway 395 Near Loon Lake

On January 28, 2026, a fatal two-vehicle collision occurred on U.S. Highway 395 approximately three miles south of Loon Lake in Stevens County, Washington. According to the Washington State Patrol, a 23-year-old driver traveling northbound ran off the roadway, struck a guardrail, then re-entered the highway and crossed the centerline. The vehicle collided with the driver’s side of a southbound vehicle operated by Mark A. Susemiehl, 59, of Colville. The northbound driver died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Mark A. Susemiehl and his passenger, David L. Susemiehl, 65, were injured and transported to Mount Carmel Hospital for treatment. Both vehicles sustained significant damage. Investigators indicated that speed is believed to have been a contributing factor. The collision remains under review as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
