James Hewing Injured in Fatal Crash on US Highway 65 | Drew County, AR | October 12, 2025

On October 12, 2025, a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 65 in rural Drew County, Arkansas, resulted in one fatality and one serious injury. According to the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, a 2005 Nissan traveling southbound left the roadway and struck a culvert before becoming airborne, hitting several trees, and overturning. Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle.

The driver, identified as 48-year-old Eric White of Tillar, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, 53-year-old James Hewing Jr. of McGehee, sustained injuries and was transported to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) for treatment. Weather and road conditions were reported as clear and dry at the time of the crash. The investigation is being conducted by Corporal John A. Pryor of the Arkansas State Police.
