Georgia State Patrol troopers reported that the collision occurred as Donald’s mother was backing out of a driveway to give a neighbor a ride. Their vehicle was struck on the passenger side, where Donald was seated. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and her unborn son did not survive.

Donald’s mother sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where she remained on a ventilator as of the following day.
