Jazmyn Rodriguez Injured in Highway 65 Collision in Shell Rock Township

On August 20, 2025, a collision involving a 2007 Ford Explorer and a 2012 Freightliner semi occurred on U.S. Highway 65 near 110th Street in Shell Rock Township, Freeborn County, Minnesota. The incident took place under dry conditions as both vehicles traveled northbound. The Ford Explorer, which was carrying multiple occupants, collided with the semi-truck. Emergency services from multiple agencies, including Mayo Ambulance and two helicopter units, responded to the scene.

Among the vehicle's passengers was 19-year-old Jazmyn Marie Rodriguez of Albert Lea, Minnesota. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for medical care. None of the occupants in the Ford Explorer, including Rodriguez, were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The driver of the semi, 74-year-old Mark Eugene Byers of Austin, was uninjured and not transported.
