Johna Wicker Identified Among Two Killed in Parker County Crash — Azle, Texas, September 23, 2025

In Azle, Texas, authorities identified 73-year-old Johna Estes Wicker as one of two individuals killed in a multi-vehicle collision on FM 730 South in Parker County on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. According to Azle Police Chief Bennett Hall, the crash occurred around 12:19 p.m. when a northbound vehicle veered from its lane and struck a southbound vehicle head-on. The impact resulted in the deaths of Wicker, a passenger in the northbound vehicle, and 67-year-old Robert Edwin Anness, the driver of the southbound vehicle.

The collision involved five vehicles in total, with two additional occupants transported to area hospitals for significant injuries and one person evaluated at the scene. Authorities stated that impairment was not suspected, though the investigation remains ongoing. Chief Hall described the incident as a tragic reminder of how momentary distractions can lead to catastrophic outcomes. The roadway was reopened to traffic by 7 p.m. following the completion of the initial investigation.
