Frank Leinen Dies During Police Training in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma – September 25, 2025

On September 25, 2025, 40-year-old Franklin "Frank" Leinen died during a scheduled physical training session on his second day at the Broken Arrow Police Academy in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. According to official reports, Leinen exhibited signs of a medical emergency during the exercise period. Instructors immediately administered life-saving measures on site, and he was transported to Saint Francis South hospital, where he was later pronounced dead at 4:30 p.m.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is conducting a full independent investigation into the circumstances leading up to the incident. The Broken Arrow Police Department has stated that all recruits undergo thorough medical screenings prior to participation in academy training.
