Maria Ajayi Identified in Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Midland, TX | September 19, 2025
On the morning of September 19, 2025, 53-year-old Maria Ajayi of Houston was fatally injured in a pedestrian-vehicle collision in Midland County, Texas. The incident occurred at approximately 6:40 a.m. at the intersection of Business 20 and County Road 1250. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Ajayi was attempting to cross the roadway in a northbound direction when she was struck by a 2021 Mazda CX-5 traveling eastbound in the left lane.
The driver, identified as 44-year-old Jesse Lee Rodriguez of Odessa, reportedly attempted to avoid the pedestrian but was unable to do so. Ajayi was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Rodriguez sustained no injuries. The incident remains under investigation, and no further information has been released.
