On November 25, 2025, Matthew Pfister, a 37-year-old resident of North Chicago, was fatally injured in a workplace accident at Hard Times General Repair in Wauconda, Illinois. The incident occurred at approximately 8:52 a.m. when Pfister became trapped beneath a passenger vehicle. According to authorities, the vehicle was lifted about five feet when the rear end detached, pinning Pfister, followed by the front end falling, causing fatal blunt-force injuries. Emergency responders arrived promptly, but Pfister was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office confirmed the cause of death following an autopsy. Wauconda police, the coroner’s office, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the incident.
