Troopers Matthew Rackley and Gino Marquez Injured in Rear-End Collision on I-40 in Oklahoma City, November 24, 2025

On November 24, 2025, Trooper Matthew Rackley and Field Training Trooper Gino Marquez of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol were involved in a rear-end collision while parked on the shoulder of eastbound I-40 near SH 177 in Oklahoma City. The troopers had their emergency lights activated while responding to a separate traffic incident when their vehicle was struck from behind by a female driver. Rainy conditions were reported at the time, and the driver was subsequently cited for exceeding safe speeds under inclement weather conditions.

Both troopers were treated at a local hospital and released with minor injuries. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol emphasized the need for motorists to remain vigilant and reduce speed when approaching vehicles displaying flashing lights, highlighting the persistent risk faced by law enforcement personnel during roadside operations. The incident temporarily disrupted traffic but resulted in no further reported injuries.
